vu duo stuck on starting

Postby mclarnonray » Mon Aug 17, 2015 4:46 pm

I have vu duo clone here which once it boots up, anytime i tried to change channels it would reboot. I disconnected the hdd and it still done the same. So i changed the psu and now its stuck on starting boot. There's no usb inserted and i've tried flashing different images with no joy. Does anyone else have any ideas or is it sledgehammer time.

Are you 100% sure it's a box issue and not cabling? It could be a break in the cable which will cause a short circuit and a reboot. Does the same happen if the cables are disconnected?

This'll be one of two things:

The power supply is knackered

OR

As Lee says.. the cabling. The reboot is usually indicative of a bad contact under the f-connector on the coax. See if any of the shielding is touching the copper core.

I tried plugging in and turning it on with just the power cable connected, still doing the same. I replaced the psu, although it had been lying in the cupboard for a couple of years. I noticed any psu on clones where always very through other looking, like something a child of 5 soldered. Is there anywhere you can buy original psu's and not clones.

I've not seen any. You could mooch around on fleabay?

I'd take a look at the coax though, as a bad connection will definitely cause a reboot of the box- I've had it myself.
